Utiful Newsletter 11/2022 for iOS and Android

It's been some time since our last newsletter and in the meantime a lot has happened!

Utiful for iOS
Latest version: 7.5.0

• Live Text : Interact with text that's on your photos and screenshots: You can now copy text from photos and so much more! And it works even with handwritten text! Simply put your finger on a text in a photo and choose how to use it! Alternatively, tap on the Live Text icon in the lower right corner of the photo! You can copy text, translate foreign language text, make a call to a phone number from a screenshot, send an email to an email address on a business card you’ve snapped, and, and, and! (Note: The Live Text feature requires iOS 16.)
• Lock Utiful with Face ID / Touch ID: Until now it was possible to lock the app with a passcode only. We have extended this functionality to support Face ID and Touch ID!
• Do you receive photos via a chat app like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger? Until now, the date taken of photos that you received via a chat app got lost when you imported them into Utiful. This is now fixed!
• Improved stability: We have improved the sync stability as well as the overall stability of the app.
• +++ COMING UP NEXT +++: Here's what you can expect in the upcoming versions for iOS!
  • Slideshow Repeat: This will let you repeat slideshows in a loop.
  • Slideshow Exit Lock for privacy-safe slideshow viewing: With this new option turned on, the person viewing the slideshow won't be able to exit the slideshow without you! Just think of it: You open a folder, tap the Play button to start the slideshow and give the iPhone to someone else, to a child or even a baby, so they can watch the slideshow and scroll through the pictures as they like without you having to worry that they might change something in the app or access the rest of your Utiful folders! Also quite handy at family get-togethers where you can start a slideshow and pass your iPhone around the table for the others to have a look without being able to access the rest of your Utiful folders!
  • Place text directly on your photos to annotate them: This will be helpful if you want to share a photo together with the text as a hint or explanation.

• Adjust the size of the pictures shown in the grid of a folder to fit your needs: You can now adjust the number of items shown in each row in your folders in order to zoom out and see more items at a glance or zoom in and view the items in more detail! To do so, open a folder, tap the options button and choose "Screen settings". From the same place you can also control whether to view the date taken of photos within the grid.
• Easily view recently imported photos: You can now easily view a timeline of all items you keep in Utiful! Simply tap the clock icon next to the folder search bar!
• Customizable folder group colors: You can now set a border color and a fill color not only for folders but also for groups!
• Use pictures from Utiful as device wallpaper: When you open a picture, you can now choose to use it as a wallpaper for your device!
• Show details below photos when open: You can now view the name and details of pictures when you scroll through them!
• Fingerprint lock: You can now lock the app with a fingerprint, if your device supports that!

  • Drag-select multiple photos: Hold your finger over a photo and drag across and down or up the screen to select multiple photos.
  • Edit photos: Crop, add text, draw on photos etc.
  • Edit the name of photos and videos: A lot of users have asked for this feature and we'll be adding it soon!
